Austin Pay-As-You-Throw customers can place Christmas trees on their curb for pickup by the Solid Waste Services Department, while other Austin residents can take their trees to one of several drop-off locations.
Place Christmas trees at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the day recycling and yard trimmings are collected. Since only the tree can be recycled, remove all ornaments and the stand. Do not place the tree in a tree bag. If it's more than 6 feet tall, cut the tree in two. There is no end date for collection of Christmas trees at the curb. Customers should not wait too long, though. As the trees dry out, they can become a fire hazard.
